Being a mental health professional is one of the most difficult, beautiful, heart wrenching, joyful, exhausting, and invigorating experiences a human can have – all at the same time. It is truly the highest honor and privilege – and it is so, so hard.
It can feel like you’re on a roller coaster. Sometimes it feels like magic is happening. You can literally feel throughout your entire being that you are guiding people to create huge shifts and changes in their life. Everything seems to just click for your client – insights and awareness and hope in abundance! Other times, it feels like you both are dragging your feet through mud, hardly moving, trudging through darkness with little light. The ups and downs of this ride can happen over the course of days, hours, or even shifting every few minutes.
No wonder some days you lie awake at night, your mind spinning and restless, your body tense, tight, and hurting. Or, you collapse in exhaustion at the end of the day, numbed out, unable to make any more decisions, very little to no capacity for the people you love.
We get it, and we want to help. We created this 3 day somatic retreat not only to provide you with enough CEU’s for the entire YEAR, but to help you learn to care deeply for yourself – mind, body, and spirit.

Katt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Somatic-Attachment Therapist, EMDR Therapist, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher who helps people create a trusting, authentic relationship with themselves through the empowering modalities of Parts Work and Somatics at her Tulsa private therapy practice. She is the creator of The Soma Lab, an online class that teaches somatic skills for emotionally difficult moments. The Soma Lab draws insight from Somatic Physiology, Polyvagal Theory, and Yoga. Katt will guide you through somatic release and soothing practices at the retreat.
What you will experience:
Day 1: September 24th 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
You will let go of your stresses and settle into our time together with a luxurious trauma-informed yoga practice led by Pam that includes anxious energy release, breathwork, and a long guided meditation. You will notice how the movement and rest impacted your thoughts, body, and emotions, then use that info during a discussion on the nervous system. You will learn how to notice regulation and dysregulation of your own body/mind, and also your clients. Unconscious negative core beliefs that you may carry will be uncovered, and you will learn how they impact your work and happiness. Pauses for somatic release and soothing will be incorporated throughout the day, and you will learn how to incorporate these short pauses before, during, and after your work with clients to keep your peace. We will end the day with a silent, sensory.
Day 2: September 25th 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
You will begin the day by reconnecting with your inner source through a grounding meditation and gentle somatic practice guided by Lindsay. You will notice what it feels like to lead from your Highest Self (the unshakable presence within) and reflect on how disconnection from that place can impact your work, energy, and relationships. Through parts dialogue, inner reflection, and nature-based exercises, you will explore how to care for the parts of you that carry burnout, over-functioning, and over-responsibility. You will learn how to access internal spaciousness, restore inner peace, and lead from Self in both life and work. Pauses for regulation and gentle movement will be woven throughout the day. We will close with a hike in nature and a meditative practice to anchor the insights you’ve gained and to honor the sacred art of showing up for yourself.
Day 3: September 26th 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
This day is all about experiencing and experimenting with movement, stillness, and mindfulness! Katt will lead you through somatic release and soothing exercises to reconnect with your body, calm your mind, and tap into your natural ability to heal and grow. We’ll finish her portion with journaling, coloring, or drawing to integrate the experience. Lastly, you will take all the info you gathered at the retreat to create your own individualized, unique Daily Self-Preservation Plan©. This will enable you to leave the retreat with a solid plan to implement the strategies you learned into your everyday life- hopefully for the rest of your life!

Physicality during the trauma-informed yoga portion can be engaging in gentle standing movement for about 30 minutes, stretches, then rest. You are welcome to sit in a chair during the yoga practice and engage as you are able, perhaps with just upper body movements. You can even just sit or lay quietly during the entire practice and rest! Nothing is “required” – you can participate fully, partially, or not at all. If you are unable to hike, alternate activities will be offered. ALL bodies, ALL sizes, ALL shapes, ALL expressions are welcome here. Your part will be empowering yourself and giving yourself permission to move or rest as your body needs and wants in the moment.
The hiking portions of the retreat will be gentle, about 25 minutes long, with little incline. If you are unable to hike, a guided meditation will be provided.
Katt Townsend will be modeling how to participate in the yoga portion while seated in a chair. **Please let us know on the registration form if you prefer this option so we can save you a seat!**
No fancy fitness gear required! Wear anything in which you feel comfortable and can easily move and stretch. Sturdy athletic shoes or hiking boots are recommended if you wish to hike.
No prior experience with the modalities and techniques offered during this retreat is necessary. You will be guided in how to apply these practices to support your own nervous system, self, mind, and body.
All modalities are integrative, evidence-informed approaches that honor the full spectrum of human experience — psychological, emotional, somatic, and spiritual — without requiring adherence to any particular faith or worldview.
Participants from all backgrounds are welcome, and the practices are grounded in inner exploration, self-awareness, and compassionate presence.
We completely understand that investing in a retreat is a significant decision.
In just three days, you’ll receive a full year’s worth of CEUs—yet what you’ll gain goes far beyond credits. How often have you invested time and money in trainings that left you uninspired and unchanged? This experience is different.
We view the entry fee not as a cost, but as an investment in your well-being—a commitment to your growth, your peace, and your purpose. Our mission is to guide you toward tools that help you reconnect with calm, clarity, and alignment in your mind, body, and spirit—tools you’ll carry with you for life.
Because the truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup. You weren’t meant to live in burnout. You were meant to thrive. And we’re here to help you return to that truth.
Lodging is not included in the price. Lunch will be provided on Day 1 & 2.
The practices you learn are first and foremost for your own healing and growth. As you will learn at this retreat, when you are regulated and flowing in your Highest Self energy, this will naturally enrich all the work you do with clients. You’ll be able to directly apply as many of these practices as you wish into your everyday life via the Daily Self-Preservation Plan you create at the retreat.
It is completely normal to have a range of different emotions and sensations arise during somatic practices. We will provide you quiet places to rest if you ever need to take a break. You can choose to be alone, or there will be volunteers with mental health backgrounds present to support you if you’d like a friendly ear to listen.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive experience. Most retreat activities can be adapted to accommodate different levels of mobility. However, if you have specific accessibility requirements, please reach out to us directly so we can ensure the space and practices are as supportive and comfortable for you as possible.
If you are unable to join the hike, a mediation/visualization will be provided.
Katt Townsend will be modeling how to participate in the yoga portion while seated in a chair. Please let us know on the registration form if you prefer this option so we can save you a seat!

“The Sacred Art of Self-Preservation Retreat was something every therapist should experience. It was refreshing to be in a relaxing environment with like-minded people learning from some of the best therapists in OK. The hands-on experience of different nervous system regulating activities was magical. I cannot recommend it enough “. – Kayla R.
“I arrived at the retreat feeling excited and a bit nervous, but that melted away almost immediately after meeting Lindsay and Pam. The retreat was deeply powerful in a way that’s hard to put into words. What stayed with me most was the feeling my soul received throughout the experience—calm, connection, and a personal message that was exactly what I needed. I am so grateful and thankful for this retreat and looking forward to more!”- Jill C.
